About Us

We met about 6 years ago, just four weeks after Jenny left teaching in NYC for a fresh start in Portland. We got married in August 2020, with a garden ceremony and less than 20 of our closest friends and family members.

 

On December 16, 2022, our little Alice Bean joined the party! Within her first month of life, Alice went to her first estate sale, traveled to New Hampshire for a furniture pick up, and managed restocks at two vendor locations. We laugh that she really is the one in charge - she adores people and the store, and is quite the character!

 

We started J.Plum Home in 2021 when Jenny needed a break from teaching and start refurbishing furniture. We both love history and stories, as well as connecting with people and building community. J.Plum is an extension of these passions - we have so much fun traveling all around to find previously loved pieces with history and stories to share and pass on. We aim to honor and preserve a piece's original beauty while giving it a freshened up style and new life. 

 

J.Plum Home started as a vendor business in other shops, and in 2023 we took a chance on opening our own summer pop-up in Sebago. We fell in love with being shop keepers in addition to small business owners, and relocated our shop to its current location in November of '23. Josh quit his full-time IT job in April of 2024, so J.Plum is officially a family business now! You will always see either Josh or Jenny (or both of us) at the store. What started as a passion project has grown into this beloved small business of ours, and has provided the most wonderful community for us as well.
